At a time when human connection is more precious than ever, yet increasingly less authentic, EXIT Foundation and the “Conscious R:Evolution” platform invite you to a full-day seminar titled “Why Don’t We Understand Each Other?” taking place this Saturday, April 26, from 11 a.m. to 5:20 p.m. at the Madlenianum Theatre in Belgrade. The seminar will be led by Tomislav Kuljiš, a leading regional expert in early and personal development and the founder of Integral Body Psychotherapy.
“Communication is the foundation of every relationship, whether that relationship is romantic, familial, or professional. Yet, people often have misconceptions. Many relationships suffer, people feel misunderstood, and problems pile up instead of being resolved. One of the most common misconceptions is that communication is successful only when the other person agrees with us,” explains Kuljiš.
And that’s where the biggest confusion happens – because communication is not a power struggle, but an opportunity for dialogue. Effective communication means being present, empathetic, and willing to check how our words actually land with the other person. It’s not enough to just say something; it also matters how our words are taken.
“True communication doesn’t necessarily mean reaching an agreement. It means making the other person feel seen and understood. Another common mistake is assuming that we’ve communicated well just because we said everything we wanted to say. Communication isn’t a monologue, but a two-way process where, ideally, we’re checking whether our message was received the way we intended,” Kuljiš adds, also emphasizing that successful communication requires the courage to express disagreement in a healthy way.
The seminar focuses on understanding the unconscious mechanisms that shape our communication. Instead of being a space for genuine connection, conversation often becomes a battle for control or leads to emotional distance. Through practical insights and examples, Kuljiš will show how we can return to authenticity, presence, and trust in our daily interactions – not trying to be “right,” but to achieve contact and true dialogue.
Participants will have the opportunity to strengthen their emotional literacy, understand how past experiences influence current relationships, and learn how to overcome patterns that sabotage them when they most need closeness and understanding.
The program also includes a panel discussion featuring experts in psychotherapy, communication, and media, including Prof. Dr. Zorica Tomić, neurobiologist Andrea Čontoš, Stefan Tošović, and Maja Šuša, as well as a performance by the “Svitac” choir, an inclusive music initiative that promotes unity and inclusion through art.
Tickets are currently available at all Gigs Tix outlets and online at promotional prices with a 15% discount, valid until Thursday, April 24 at midnight.
