“Choose the path that’s BETTER – not one that’s easier, more popular, or more accessible.”
This is the message behind “Krokodili dolaze” (The Crocodiles Are Coming), a campaign launched by a collective of regional musicians to combat the aggressive promotion of gambling and sports betting. The EXIT Festival fully supports this initiative, standing with artists in the fight against gambling addiction — an increasingly widespread issue affecting all age groups and a concerning number of young people.
At the heart of this movement aimed at building awareness of the problem of gambling addiction is the song “Krokodili dolaze,” which has taken the internet by storm, uniting musicians across the region in a shared mission. The music video for this cover of the legendary Električni Orgazam hit is quickly racking up views and helping musicians from the region raise their voices against gambling addiction — an issue often left in the shadows despite its profound impact on societies worldwide.
The track is performed by the iconic punk rock band Atheist Rap from Novi Sad, with a powerhouse lineup of legendary musicians spanning generations. The list includes Srđan Gojković Gile (Električni Orgazam), Zoran Kostić Cane (Partibrejkers), Zlatan Stipišić – Gibonni, as well as Zoe Kida, Letu Štuke, TBF, Dubioza Kolektiv, Kanda Kodža i Nebojša, Detour, Zoran Predin, Zoster, Rambo Amadeus, Love Hunters, Darko Rundek, Dejan Cukić, Mile Kekin, and Aleksandar Janić Janado.
The song “Krokodili dolaze“ proves that music is more than just an escape — it’s a tool for change, carrying a message that can shape reality. When artists join forces, blending beats, chords, words, and voices in pursuit of a cause, music transcends the stage and becomes a movement.
The driving force behind this initiative is Aleksandar Janić Jana, a former DJ and musician who is now fully dedicated to raising awareness about gambling addiction. His personal story is a stark reminder of how crucial it is to talk about this issue, educate people, and offer support.
The severity of the problem is underscored by shocking statistics: According to the 2022 study titled “Danger on the Way to School,” conducted with the support of Novi Sad’s City Administration for Health, some of the youngest gambling addicts in treatment are just 12 years old.
As an activist platform that bridges generations, EXIT stands firmly behind the “Krokodili dolaze” campaign, believing in the power of music and art to drive meaningful change and calling on its audience to make healthier choices.
